How it works
How the utilities work
The builder runs in your browser. When you select Download, it creates the file on your device. This page explains what stays on your device, what is sent to Due Form and what the downloaded workbook contains.
Where the workbook is made
When you select Download, code on the page creates the .xlsx file in memory on your device and the browser saves it.
The builder does not send the settings you choose or the workbook it creates to Due Form.
Information sent to Due Form
Feedback and tool requests
If you submit the Request a tool or send feedback form, Due Form receives:
- your message;
- the topic you selected;
- the page the message came from;
- your email address, if you add one.
Form messages are stored with Google Firebase so Due Form can read and reply to them. Retention and deletion are covered in the Privacy Notice.
Publication-email sign-ups
If you ask to hear when a Due Form edition is published, Due Form receives:
- the email address;
- the edition selected;
- the date of the sign-up;
- the consent wording shown when you signed up.
The sign-up is used for that publication message. The Privacy Notice explains retention and deletion.
Page-view analytics
The site uses Vercel Web Analytics without cookies.
The analytics data described for the current site includes:
- page address;
- referring site;
- country;
- browser type;
- which utility or card was downloaded.
It does not include the entries typed into a utility builder.
Builder entries stay on your device
The utility builder does not send these entries to Due Form:
- workbook titles;
- column names;
- list items;
- dropdown choices;
- other values entered to configure the workbook.
The builder also does not send the contents of the downloaded file.
After download, entries you add in Excel or another spreadsheet program are not sent to Due Form by the utility builder.
Workbook protection
Sheets are protected against accidental edits to headings, branding and formulas. Entry cells remain unlocked.
The sheet protection has no password. In Excel, it can be removed with Review > Unprotect Sheet.
What the workbooks contain
Each workbook is an .xlsx file. Depending on the utility, it may contain:
- formulas;
- dropdown lists;
- conditional formatting;
- protected formula or heading cells;
- unlocked entry cells.
The workbooks contain no macros, no links to external files and no connection to the internet.
The Start Here sheet explains the sheets, calculations and settings used in that workbook.
Software used to make the files
The workbook builder uses:
- SheetJS Community Edition, Apache 2.0;
- fflate, MIT.
Both are served from the Due Form site as part of the utility builder.
