File details

What it works out
It calculates the germination percentage from the seeds sown and sprouted you enter.
Using the result
The germination result is calculated from your test counts. Check the variety name and seed condition before labelling packets.
Calculation
Germination percentage is 100 times seeds sprouted divided by seeds sown, rounded to a whole number.
A guide
A small test gives a rough figure; treat the percentage as a guide for sowing.

Questions

How is the germination percentage worked out?

It is 100 times the seeds that sprouted, divided by the seeds sown. If 17 of 20 sprouted, the label says 85%, with 17 of 20 and the test date beside it.

Is the percentage exact?

It is rounded to a whole number, so 2 of 3 prints as 67%. The counts are printed too, so anyone reading the label can see the actual numbers.

Do the labels fit a brand of sticky label sheet?

No brand is matched. The packet fronts are 70 by 100 mm, a common small seed packet size, and the labels fill the page inside the margins.

Should I print at actual size?

Yes. Choose 100% or Actual size in the print window so the cut lines and type print at the size drawn.

Can I print labels without a germination test?

Yes. Switch the test off and each label has blank lines to write the percentage, counts and date by hand.
